About the Business
Melbourne Child Development has grown from a Speech Pathology practice into a multi-disciplinary clinic that includes Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Psychology for children and their families from birth to young adulthood. We offer services in person and through tele-health.
We have followed families’ needs for over 20 years and continue to be a preferred provider for our loyal network of paediatricians, health professionals, teachers, and parents.
The clinic is bright, fresh and is located in Box Hill South. It contains a purpose-built sensory gym, numerous assessments and an extensive range of equipment and resources. The clinic also includes an outdoor deck and garden which provides opportunities for flexible therapy spaces.
Melbourne Child Development offers work/life balance, with its 7.6-hour workday. Our Clinicians alternate early morning starts which finish mid-afternoon, with mid-morning starts which finish later. Even before COVID -19 we combined working at the clinic with working from home.
About the role
We are looking for a fun, creative and passionate Occupational Therapist with at least 2 years’ experience who is looking for a part-time or full-time position.
Many of the children, adolescents, and students (ages 2 to early 20s) present to our Occupational Therapy Service requiring intervention for self-care skills, fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and executive functioning and/or motor planning.
The Occupational Therapist’s day is made up of 4 clients in a 4 hour clinical block and an admin and supervision block.
Supervision is provided by a highly experienced paediatric Occupational Therapist.

About the position
As a Level 2 or as a Senior Speech Pathologist at Melbourne Child Development you will be supported to develop expertise in your areas of passion.
The Clinical Team led by Practice Principal Robyn Stephen have a depth of experience to call on to provide the best evidence-based therapy for children and their families.
Experienced Speech Pathologists will provide you with weekly supervision and regular internal PD sharing their many years of experience across a broad range of paediatric speech pathology including autism, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, feeding and literacy. You will be supported to share your knowledge with the team. You will also have a generous annual allowance for external PD.

We are seeking passionate Speech Pathologists with 2 years plus experience in paediatrics, to join our multi-discipline team of 9 Speech Pathologists, 2 Occupational Therapists and Psychologist to create truly holistic intervention for each child and their family.
Our client base presents with a diverse presentation of neurodevelopmental conditions and are aged from birth to their early 20s. Client needs are associated with difficulties with speech and language, social communication, stuttering, feeding and literacy disorders.
Clinicians work with our dynamic client services team and Allied Health assistant at our bright and freshly renovated rooms in Box Hill South to provide in-person sessions and groups and also see children on Telehealth which can be provided from your home. It is possible to provide our 19 hours of clinical contact over 4 days and have a day for admin and professional reading and development working from home or at the practice.
We provide a psychologically safe place for you to voice your opinions and ideas and we are innovative in response to those ideas. You can build your professional reputation with our loyal network of referring paediatricians, teachers, and other health professionals.

Our client base comprises a diverse presentation of neurodevelopmental conditions including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Specific Learning Disorder in clients from birth to their early 20s.
There is scope to streamline your caseload into your areas of passion and to be provided with internal and external professional development opportunities to develop your knowledge and confidence in those areas. One of our experienced clinicians has recently followed her passion for animal assisted therapy which she now provides at Melbourne Child Development.
Clinicians work with our dynamic client services team at our bright and freshly renovated rooms in Box Hill South for 4 days a week and spend a day working from home on Telehealth. It is possible to provide our 19 hours of clinical contact over 4 days and have an additional day at home for admin and professional reading and development.
