About the Business

Melbourne Child Development has followed families’ needs for over 20 years and grown from a Speech Pathology practice into a true multi-disciplinary team providing services both in person and through tele-health.

We have been leaders in Allied Health practice in the ways we look after our staff and listen and respond to their ideas. Our Occupational Therapist feels nurtured and supported. We are a preferred provider for our loyal network of paediatricians, other health professionals, teachers, and parents. Melbourne Child Development provides Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, and Psychology for children and their families from birth to young adulthood. 

About the role

We are looking for a part-time or full-time Occupational Therapist to work with our current Occupational Therapist and our clinical team comprising early career, senior clinicians and clinical managers.

We are currently delivering our evidence-based and innovative therapy individually and in groups through in-person contact and telehealth to children and students from age 2 years to early 20s.

Children and students present with neurodevelopmental difficulties including fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, motor planning, Autism Spectrum Disorder, feeding, and handwriting. Clinician’s days are clearly defined into equal time for sessions and admin and supervision is regularly scheduled.

Skills and experience                                     

The team at Melbourne Child Development is looking for an Occupational Therapist part-time or full-time. Experience in paediatric private practice is an advantage.

Speech Pathologist

We have a position available for a passionate, paediatric Speech Pathologist part or full time. The Speech Pathologist will have excellent communication and time management skills and be driven to empower families and children to reach their goals. New Graduates are welcome to apply.

Join our multidisciplinary team of 17 covering Speech Pathology, Psychology, Naturopathy, Occupational Therapy and dedicated administrative team based at our bright and freshly renovated Practice rooms in the inner east. We work  individually and in groups at our practice rooms and at schools.

Your Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or Masters in Speech Pathology
  • Speech Pathology Australia Membership
  • Professional Indemnity Cover and Public Liability Insurance
  • Fit2Work Police Check – not older than 3 months

  • Current Australian driver’s license or ability to remain mobile in response to client needs
  • Right to work in Australia permanently without restrictions

Medical Receptionist Role (full-time or part-time)

About the role

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Medical/Allied Health Receptionist to join our dynamic 5 member client services team and our passionate clinicians. 

This role will be underpinned by the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2010 (MA000027).

Examples of what the role involves includes (but is not limited to);

  • Greeting clients and visitors, and provision of information to clients.
  • Managing client phone calls and the clinician’s calendars and appointments.
  • Management and organisation of client accounts.
  • Liaising with the team, referrers and external providers about client and administration matters.
  • Maintaining the appearance and cleanliness of the Practice to a high standard.
  • Assistance with maintaining stationery and office supplies.
  • Be available to work on Saturdays during the Victorian school terms (the Practice is open from 7:30am – 3:30pm).
  • Be available to work during the week with the flexibility of early morning and/or mid morning start times Monday to Friday (the Practice is open from 7:30am – 6:30pm).
  • If part – time be available to cover leave periods for other members of the Client Services Team.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A warm, professional and welcoming nature.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and literacy skills.
  • Family centred approach.
  • Strong administrative skills with initiative and motivation.
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload with a commitment to quality.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in medical/allied health reception, appointment management and medical typing.
  • Above average typing speed/accuracy with a good knowledge of medical terminology.
  • A minimum of intermediate skills in MS office and Outlook.
  • Current Working with Children Check and a fit to work check within the last 3 months.
  • Available to work on Saturdays from 7:30am – 3:30pm during the Victorian school terms.
  • Flexibility with hours and if part- time, ability to cover additional days to meet the needs of the practice and provide cover for staff leave periods.
